A stranger texting you a finished website sounds like a scam. It's not, but don't take my word for it. Everything below can be checked in a minute.
Here's what happened. I found your business, saw it had no website, and built one from what's already public: your Google reviews, your photos, your Facebook page, your hours. Then I sent you the link. That's it.
Why would I do the work first? Because a finished site says more than any pitch. If you say no, I've lost a bit of my own time. You've lost nothing. That's the whole risk, and it's mine, not yours.

Word of mouth isn't failing you. It's leaking. Here's where.
Someone gives your name over the fence. The next thing that person does is type it into their phone. They find a Maps pin and nothing else, or a Facebook page from 2019. Then they see the other bloke's website and ring him.
Plenty of people look for a tradie after tea. A website answers for you: what you do, where you go, what people say about you, and a button that rings you in the morning.
You don't get told about the ones that went elsewhere. That's the cost of no website. It's invisible, and it's every week.

Who's behind it
I'm an Aussie developer up on the Gold Coast, and websites.doctor is a one-person outfit. When you reply to a message, I'm the one who reads it. When your site needs looking after, I'm the one who does it.
I started doing this because the same thing kept happening. A business with a great name around town, glowing reviews, a full diary, and nothing online but a Google pin. The owner had been meaning to sort a website for years. Nobody ever made it easy, so it never got done.
So I made it easy. I build the site, you look at the real thing, and you judge that instead of a promise about it.
What I don't do: I don't run your Facebook, I don't do logos, and I don't ring you. If you want the site, you'll tell me.
Fair question, and the right one to ask. Yes, it's real, and you don't have to trust me to check: the link ends in websites.doctor, the email is tim@websites.doctor, the texts come from 0450 986 047, and the site is sitting there for you to look at. Because most owners have been meaning to get a website for years and never get around to it. Meetings, briefs and quotes are the bit that stops people. Skipping straight to the finished site removes all of that. The risk is mine: if you say no, I've spent my own time, not your money.

Word of mouth is the best advertising there is, and it's exactly why a site pays off. The person who's given your name still looks you up on their phone before they ring. If they find nothing, some of them ring the next name. A website doesn't replace your referrals. It catches the ones that were leaking.
Yes. Once it's paid for, the website is yours. The monthly amount pays for hosting it, your domain name, and keeping it found on Google. It isn't a lease and there's no lock-in.

From what's already public: your Google listing, your Facebook page, your Instagram. Nothing private and nothing made up. If a photo shouldn't be there, tell me and it comes down straight away.
Small things, you do yourself. The site comes with a simple editor, so you can change text, photos, prices and hours from your phone in a minute. Bigger things, like a booking system or a whole new section, I quote as their own job before anything starts.
Once the site is yours, I set it up properly for search: your business details, your services, your area, and I submit it to the search engines. It also gives your Google listing a real website to point at, which is what most people click before they call.
You can, and plenty do. The difference is that this one is already finished, built for your trade with your real photos and reviews, and it works on a phone. You're not comparing it to a promise. You're comparing it to something you can look at right now.
